This 100-year old house was owned by the same family for over 85 years and unoccupied for the previous 20 years, when Liz saw it list for sale. Original windows, hardwood floors and millwork made this Austin bungalow a design time-capsule and Liz was immediately smitten. She saved the house from a developer – with the promise to the sellers she would save the house in all its glory. After trimming 20 years of yard overgrowth, evicting some uninvited critters, adding 19 new piers, updating plumbing, electrical and gas lines and adding attic insulation, Liz was ready to turn her focus to the interiors. Her penchant for knowing what to fix and when to leave well-enough alone, made the renovation and restoration of this historic home, just steps from the famed Commodore Perry Estate, a shining example of LMI's intuitive approach to classic details. The final result embraces the wabi-sabi and injects just the right amount of fearless color, pattern and fun into the home - now ready for the next 100 years.
